Abstract:
Provided is glass used for chemically strengthened glasses of which the strength is less likely to be reduced, even when impressions are formed on the glass. A glass for chemical strengthening containing, in mole percentage in terms of oxides, 62 to 68% of SiO2, 6 to 12 % of Al2O3, 7 to 13 % of MgO, 9 to 17 % of Na2O, and 0 to 7% of K2O, wherein: the Al2O3 content subtracted from the sum of the Na2O and K2O content is less than 10 %; and, when the glass contains ZrO2, the content thereof is 0.8 % or less. A chemically strengthened glass obtained by chemically strengthening the aforementioned glass for chemical strengthening. The chemically strengthened glass, wherein the thickness of a compressive stress layer formed on the glass surface is 30 µm or more, and the surface compressive stress is 550 MPa or more.
