Abstract:
Disclosed is a glass composition having high elastic modulus and low electrical conductivity. Also disclosed is a glass spacer for electron beam excitation type displays having high elastic modulus and low electrical conductivity, which enables to increase the aperture ratio of an electron beam excitation type display. Specifically disclosed is a glass composition essentially composed of, in mass%, 10-40% of SiO2, 0-6% of RO, 0-50% of La2O3, 1-50% of Y2O3, 10-60% of La2O3 + Y2O3, 0-30% of Al2O3, 0-6% of B2O3, 0-5% of ZnO, 0-10% of TiO2, 0-10% of ZrO2, not more than 1% of Fe2O3 and not more than 0.5% of R'2O. In this connection, R represents at least one element selected from Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, and R' represents at least one element selected from Li, Na and K.
