Abstract:
A glass disc polishing device comprises a base, a lower surface lapping plate to polish lower surfaces of glass discs held by a carrier, an upper lapping plate to polish upper surfaces of the glass discs, an upward and downward movement mechanism to raise and lower the upper lapping plate, a drive unit provided in the base, and a rotation transmission mechanism to transmit a drive force of the drive unit so as to rotate the upper lapping plate relative to the lower lapping plate, while an upper lapping pad abuts on the upper surfaces of the glass discs and lower lapping pad abuts on the lower surfaces of the glass discs. The rotation transmission mechanism comprises a drive shaft which transmits a rotation torque of the drive unit, a disc-like torque transmission member having a driven hole in which an upper end of the drive shaft is fitted and arranged above the upper lapping plate, and a connection mechanism which connects an outer periphery of the upper lapping plate and an outer periphery of the disc-like torque transmission member. The rotation of the disc-like torque transmission member is transmitted to the outer periphery of the upper lapping plate through the connection mechanism.
