Abstract:
Disclosed is a glass member with a sealing material layer, wherein sealing performance between two glass substrates and reliability of the sealing are increased by suppressing occurrence of defects such as cracks or fractures of the glass substrates or the sealing layer even when the space between the two glass substrates is made narrower.
Specifically, a glass substrate (3) has a surface (3a) that is provided with a sealing region. A sealing material layer (9) that has a thickness of not more than 15 µm is formed on the sealing region of the glass substrate (3). The sealing material layer (9) is configured of a material that is obtained by firing a sealing glass material which contains sealing glass and a laser absorbing material, and optionally a low expansion filler, with the total content of the laser absorbing material and the low expansion filler that is optionally contained being within the range of 2-44% by volume. The difference between the thermal expansion coefficient (α1) of the material for the sealing material layer (9) and the thermal expansion coefficient (α2) of the glass substrate (3) is set to be within the range of 15-65 × 10-7/°C.
