Abstract:
Provided are a glass panel unit that has a depressurized internal space, and a fitting equipped with the same, both of which use a structure in which no mark from an exhaust pipe remains. To this end, the glass panel unit production method is provided with a joining step, a depressurization step, and a sealing step. The joining step involves forming an internal space (510) by joining a first substrate (10) and a second substrate (20) to one another using a first sealing material (410). The depressurization step involves depressurizing the internal space (510) through an exhaust hole (50) present in the first substrate (10). The sealing step involves irradiating a second sealing material (420) inserted in the exhaust hole (50) using an infrared ray, and irradiating through a region of the second substrate (20) where a low-radiation film (450) is not present.
