Abstract:
A glass plate manufacturing method, according to the present invention, executes: a scribe step P1 for forming a scribe line S on one surface Ga of a planned cutting part Gp of a glass ribbon G, in cutting a glass plate Gs by cutting the flexible glass ribbon G in the width direction while transporting said ribbon downward in a vertical orientation; and a folding/splitting step P2 in which the planned cutting part Gp is curved so that the one surface Ga side protrudes, and the glass ribbon G is cut by folding and splitting along a scribe line S in a state in which the glass ribbon G is supported by a support member 7 from the other surface Gb side, wherein in the folding/splitting step P2, a portion (to-be-cut part Gx) of the glass ribbon G below the planned cutting part Gp is pulled in the width direction, and a portion of the glass ribbon G supported by the support member 7 is extended in the width direction, after which the planned cutting part Gp is curved so that the one surface Ga side protrudes.
