Abstract:
Provided is a glass production method wherein oxidation can be easily prevented and productivity can be enhanced. This glass production method comprises a step for flowing a melt 11, which is obtained by melting a starting glass material, into a forming mold 13 and a step for cooling the melt 11 to give a glass 18, wherein: a partition member 16 is disposed in the forming mold 13 so as to form an inlet part 17 surrounded by the forming mold 13 and the partition member 16; and, in the step for flowing the melt 11 into the forming mold 13, the melt 11 is flown into the inlet part 17 while moving the forming mold 13 with respect to the partition member 16 to increase the volume of the inlet part 17.
