Abstract:
This glass starting material melting apparatus 11 includes: a melting furnace 12 that melts a glass starting material; a flue 13 that guides gas inside the melting furnace 12 outside the melting furnace 12; and an exhaust device 14 that forcibly exhausts the gas that passes through the flue 13 outside. The flue 13 includes a first branch line 15 and a second branch line 16 that are independently connected to the melting furnace 12, and a main line 17 in which the first branch line 15 and the second branch line 16 meet. The exhaust device 14 is provided on the main line 17. The method for producing molten glass includes: a first exhaust stage of guiding the gas inside the melting furnace 12 of the glass starting material melting apparatus 11 to the main line 17 through the first branch line 15 and the second branch line 16; and a second exhaust stage of guiding the gas to the main line 17 through either the first branch line 15 or the second branch line 16.
