Abstract:
Provided is a glass substrate in which a strengthening layer comprising a potassium ion exchange layer and a compressive stress layer is formed on the surface of a glass material using a chemical strengthening solution, wherein the glass substrate is characterized in that the glass material contains lithium and the thickness of the compressive stress layer is between at least 35-times to no more than 100-times the thickness of the potassium ion exchange layer. The glass substrate has excellent impact resistance even when used under harsh temperature conditions, and shows a low incidence of delayed errors due to ion elution, even when used for a high-recording-density hard disk drive.
