Abstract:
A glass substrate for a magnetic recording medium according to the present invention is characterized by having an average linear thermal expansion coefficient in the temperature range of 30-380°C which is 30×10-7/°C-40×10-7/°C, a Young's modulus of not less than 80 GPa, a specific Young's modulus of not less than 30 GPa/g·cm-3, and a strain point of not lower than 700°C.
