Abstract:

[Problem] To increase the detection accuracy with respect to the combustion pressure for a glow plug equipped with a combustion pressure sensor, by preventing the rapid faulty thermal expansion of a sealing member (retaining member) due to the intrusion of combustion gas into the interior via an annular gap between the inner circumferential surface of the tip of the housing and the outer circumferential surface of the heater protruding therefrom. [Solution] A combustion gas blocking wall (67), which protrudes in the radial direction with an increasing diameter, and the outer diameter (D2) of which is greater than the inner diameter (D1) of the tip (136) of the housing, is provided at the outer circumferential surface of the heater (10) so as to seal off the annular gap (K1) farther forward than annular membrane part (63) of the sealing member (60), when viewed in the axial direction from the tip (10a) toward the rear of the heater (10). The combustion gas rushing from the tip (10a) of the heater (10) toward the rear collides with the combustion gas blocking wall (67), so the annular membrane part (63) is not directly impacted. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the action whereby the annular membrane part (63) pushes the heater (10) forward in the axial direction due to faulty thermal expansion, as with the prior art.
