Abstract:
A photonic crystal polarization maintaining fiber, comprising: a base material (1), fiber cores (3) located at the central position of the base material (1), and a cladding layer (2) located on the base material (1) and surrounding the fiber cores (3). The fiber cores (3) form a multi-core structure, and the diameters of the 4-7 fiber cores (3) increase in sequence in a counterclockwise or clockwise direction; the plurality of fiber cores (3) are arranged in a regular polygonal shape; and the centre of each fiber core (3) is located at a vertex of the polygonal shape. The cladding layer (2) is provided in several circular holes of the base material (1) that are arranged in a polygonal shape, and the circular holes are arranged in a hexagonal shape. The photonic crystal polarization maintaining fiber breaks the circular symmetry of the fiber, and realizes polarization maintaining performance by means of 4-7 fiber cores (3). Compared with a single-core fiber, the fiber having a plurality of fiber cores (3) of different sizes is able to transmit more optical signals, improving the transmission capacity.
