Abstract:
A grain-grade zirconia toughened alumina ceramic substrate and process for preparation thereof. The substrate uses alumina powder as the main phase, zirconia powder as the second phase material, and magnesium-aluminum spinel powder as a sintering aid. A binary azeotropic mixture of absolute ethanol and methyl ethyl ketone is used as a solvent; phosphate ester is used as a dispersant; polyvinyl butyral is used as an adhesive; dibutyl phthalic acid is used as a plasticizer; the volume ratios of alumina powder and zirconia powder in the alumina powder and zirconia powder are 82.44%–96.7% and 3.30%–17.56%, respectively; magnesium-aluminum spinel powder accounts for 0.1–4.0% of the total weight of the alumina powder and zirconia powder; alumina powder, zirconia powder, and magnesium-aluminum spinel powder constitute inorganic powders; the solvent is 20–35% of the total weight of the inorganic powder, the dispersant is 0.5–2.0%, the adhesive is 5–15%, and the plasticizer is 2–6%; the grain size ratio of the alumina powder and zirconia powder is 2.415–4.444. The substrate is able to ensure that ZrO2 acts as a toughening phase and no leakage current is produced, and is further able to meet the mechanical and electrical performance requirements of ceramic copper-clad substrates and heating elements.
