Abstract:
Disclosed is a green compact suitable for producing a honeycomb structural body with high productivity in which sealing material and through-hole walls are fully sintered. The disclosed green compact (100) is provided with a honeycomb-shape columnar body (70) having multiple roughly parallel through-holes (70a), and sealing material (70b) which seals one end of the through-holes (70a). The columnar body (70) has a first end and a second end roughly perpendicular to the through-holes (70a); some of the through-holes (70a) are sealed by the sealing material (70b) at the first end and are open at the second end, and the other through-holes (70a) are sealed by the sealing material (70b) at the second end and open at the first end. The sealing material (70b) contains a ceramic, and the columnar body (70) contains a ceramic raw material powder, wherein said ceramic is aluminum titanate-based and/or a cordierite-based, and the sealing material shrinkage ratio during sintering is the 80-100% of shrinkage rate of the partition walls.
