Abstract:

A grinder (1) has: a mounting base (41) provided to a body (5) which rotatably holds a spindle (20) and surrounding the spindle (20); a fitting section (32) provided to a wheel guard (30) and having the mounting base (41) fitted therein; a recess provided in the mounting base (41); a protrusion provided to the fitting section (32); and a plate spring disposed between the mounting base (41) and the fitting section (32). The grinder is configured such that, when the wheel guard (30) is displaced in the radial direction of the spindle (20) against the pressing force of the plate spring, the fitting between the recess and the protrusion is released and the wheel guard (30) becomes pivotable in the circumferential direction of the spindle (20). As a result of this configuration, the possibility that the affixation of the wheel guard is released against the intention of the worker is reduced as far as possible.
