Abstract:
The present invention adequately maintains a gripping force even after a driving force is shut off. A gripping device (A), which grips and releases an object (B) to be gripped between multiple gripping units (2) by opening and closing the gap between said gripping units (2), wherein at least one of the multiple gripping units (2) is equipped with: a one-way power-transmitting mechanism (44), which is capable of transmitting a driving force from an input part (44a) to an output part (44b) and is not able to transmit a driving force from the output part (44b) to the input part (44a); a driving source (42) for imparting a driving force to the input part (44a); a first operating section (10) that moves in the opening/closing direction as a result of the driving force of the output part (44b); and an elastic body (20) provided on a closing direction-side portion of the first operating section (10) so as to be pressed against the object (B) that is being gripped.
