Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a gripping mechanism having greater gripping force obtained using a simple mechanism. This gripping mechanism (3) is provided with: two gripping pieces (5, 6) caused to pivot relative to each other about a pivot axis (A1); a base member (2) for supporting the gripping pieces so that the gripping pieces can pivot; a pulling pulley (7) supported so as to be rotatable about a rotation axis (A2) parallel to the pivot axis; and a wire (8) wound about the pulling pulley, the wire (8) having one end affixed to a gripping piece or the base member, the wire (8) also having the other end to which pulling force is applied to cause the pulling pulley to move the rotation axis in one direction. The pulling pulley is disposed so that the resultant of tensions on the wire will be greater than the pulling force and so that moment for causing the gripping pieces to pivot in the direction in which the gripping pieces are closed relative to each other will be generated. The base member is provided with a first long hole (10) extending in the front-rear direction. A gripping piece is provided with a second long hole (11) extending in a plane perpendicular to the pivot axis and tilted in one direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the first long hole. The rotation axis is provided so as to be movable along the longitudinal axes of the long holes.
