Abstract:
Disclosed is a grommet provided with a silencer in which no noise-leakage gap is created due to dislocation of the silencer. The grommet is mounted on a wire harness which is routed from the engine room of a motor vehicle to the interior of the vehicle room via a through-hole in the vehicle-body panel. The grommet has: a small-diameter cylindrical portion through which the wire harness is passed in a tight-contact state; and a large-diameter cylindrical portion that is contiguous with one end of the small-diameter cylindrical portion and that has an outer circumferential surface provided with a recess that comes into tight contact with the circumferential edge of the through-hole to fasten the grommet to the vehicle body. A rubber silencer (10) is inserted into and fitted in the large-diameter cylindrical portion. The silencer has a disk-shaped portion (11) that blocks the hollow section in the large-diameter cylindrical portion in the direction perpendicular to the axis thereof. The disk-shaped portion has: a wire-harness insertion hole (12) which is in communication with the small-diameter cylindrical portion of the grommet; and a slit (15) for inserting the wire harness into the wire-harness insertion hole sideways, the slit extending from the wire-harness insertion hole to the outer circumferential surface of the disk-shaped portion. The slit has an irregularly-shaped line section (15a) for inhibiting separation of the silencer, the irregularly-shaped line section being located between the opposite ends of the slit and consisting of a keyhole-shaped or dovetail-shaped line.
