GROUND FABRIC FOR EMBROIDERY AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A ground fabric for embroidery which has a basis weight of 25-300 g/m2, dissolves in water at a temperature of 0-100°C, and satisfies all of the following requirements (1)-(3): (1) it is a laminate of a layer (A) comprising a dry-process nonwoven fabric constituted of water-soluble fibers with a layer (B) of water-soluble cut fibers having a fiber length of 1-30 mm, the layer (A) and the layer (B) having been bonded to each other with a foaming aqueous solution containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin; (2) the weight proportion of the layer (A) to the layer (B), (A):(B), is from 50:50 to 90:10; and (3) the ratio of the longitudinal-direction breaking strength to the crosswise-direction breaking strength of the ground fabric for embroidery is 0.75-1.25. The ground fabric for embroidery has a satisfactory texture even when having a low basis weight, is soft, and has excellent dimensional stability.
