Abstract:
A guidewire (1) is provided with a tubular element (2), a wire (4), a coil part (3) which covers the tip-end section of the wire, and a wire operating part (7). The portion of maximum diameter of the wire operating part is the same size as or smaller than the outer diameter of the tubular element, the coil part is linear, and the tip end of the guidewire which is covered by the coil part is deformable from a linear shape to a curved shape by tensioning of the wire in the direction of the base end thereof. The wire (4) and the tubular element (2) are provided with a mechanism for retaining the deformed state of the tip end of the guidewire, for deforming the tip end and retaining deformation thereof, by means of operation of the wire operating part (7) in the axial direction.
