Abstract:
It is intended to provide a haploid plant belonging to Orchidaceae which is constructed by a method involving the following steps (1) to (7): (1) the step of collecting pollen from a plant of Orchidaceae; (2) the step of inactivating nuclei in the pollen; (3) the step of adhering the pollen having the thus inactivated nuclei to stigma of the plant of Orchidaceae; (4) growing the plant of Orchidaceae having the pollen adhered to the stigma to develop its fruit; (5) the step of harvesting the fruit and collecting seeds from the fruit; (6) the step of growing plants from the thus collected seeds; and (7) the step of selecting individuals having a halved chromosome number from the plants thus grown. According to this method, an F1 variety of Orchidaceae can be easily constructed.
