Title:
HLA-A11-RESTRICTED Tax ANTITUMOR EPITOPES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2006/035681
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is intended to provide peptides having an activity of inducing cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) specific to human T-cell leukemia virus type I (HTLV-I) that has an antitumor effect on HTLV-I tumor such as adult T-cell leukemia (ATL); and vaccines for inducing an immune response, diagnostics for testing an immune function and so on with the use of the same. By examining cellular immune responses in a patient achieving a complete remission after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from an HLA-identical sibling donor, it is found out that in a liquid culture of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of the ATL patient after the HSCT, HTLV-I-specific CTL are selectively induced by HLA-A11-restricted Tax 88-96 and HLA-A11-restricted Tax 272-280 epitopes which have vigorously proliferated in response to auto HTLV-I infected T cells constructed in vitro before the HSCT. This phenomenon indicates that these epitopes are strongly expressed in the patient, suggesting the usefulness of these epitopes as vaccine antigens.
