Claims:
Claims: 1. A hair comb for cutting hair comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface extending from the base section configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface extending from the base section configured to guide a cutting device; and a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section. 2. The hair comb according to claim 1 wherein the plurality of teeth is identical in shape and size. 3. The hair comb according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein each tooth has a

polygonal profile. 4. The hair comb according to claim 3 wherein the first, second and third surfaces form a polygonal profile. 5. The hair comb according to claim 3 or claim 4 wherein the polygonal profile of each tooth is substantially triangular shaped. 6. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the polygonal profile is substantially scalene triangle shaped. 7. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the length of the first surface is longer than the second and/or third surface. 8. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein an interface of the first and third surfaces forms the tip of the tooth. 9. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the first, second and/or third surfaces is a side or edge.

10. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the comb has a handle connected to the base section. 1 1. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein each tooth extends from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section. 12. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein each tooth extends from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and in a same plane or a parallel plane of the base section and/or handle. 13. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the handle extends in the same plane and/or a plane parallel to the first surface. 14. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the handle, base section and/or teeth are formed as an integral unit. 15. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the first surface is inline and/or flush with a lower surface of the base section. 16. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the second surface extends from the base section in a plane inclined to the first surface. 17. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the angle of the

inclined plane between the first surface and the second surface is an acute angle. 18. The hair comb according to any preceding claim wherein the first surface

and/or the second surface may comprise markings to act as a visual guide. 19. A method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a hair comb comprising:

a base section;

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises a first surface;

a second surface;

and a third surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section;

positioning the comb such that the first surface contacts a head, neck and/or scalp;

positioning a hair cutting device adjacent to the second surface;

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the second surface. 20. The method according to claim 19 comprising moving the comb to position the comb such that the first surface contacts a different position on the head, neck and/or scalp. 21. The method according to claim 19 or claim 20 comprising moving the hair cutting device along a first portion of the second surface to cut the hair to a first predetermined length. 22. The method according to any of claims 19 to 21 comprising moving the hair cutting device along a second portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a second predetermined length. 23. A method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb comprises:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface extending from the base section configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface extending from the base section configured to guide a cutting device; and a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section;

wherein each comb has a different tooth profile; selecting a comb with a desired tooth profile;

positioning the comb such that the first surface contacts a head, scalp and/or neck;

positioning a hair cutting device on the second surface; and

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the second surface to cut the hair to a predetermined length. 24. The method according to claim 23 wherein the plurality of hair combs each have teeth having a substantially scalene triangular profile having a different size and shape. 25. A kit of parts comprising:

at least one comb for cutting hair;

wherein each of the at least one comb comprises

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface configured to guide a cutting device; and

a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section.

Description:
Hair cutting comb The present invention relates to a comb for cutting hair and method of use, and in particular a comb which facilities hair to be cut at a precise length. Background to the invention Various apparatus and techniques for cutting and styling hair are known. The most frequently used technique is the scissor-over-comb method. This method allows a wide variety of hair styles and cuts to be achieved. However, this method also requires a high degree of skill to craft the hairstyle. The scissors-over-comb method allows a hair stylist to cut close to the head and follow the hairline to achieve a precise cut. However, this method requires years of training to cut, shape and style the hair as desired. Another method is the use of hair clippers with attached cutting guard. This method often results in a shaved look as the hair is cut to a uniform length. The clipper method also requires the clipper to be deactivated and the cutting guard changed each time a different length is desired. It is also difficult to cut hair to a length which does not fall within the pre- set lengths of the cutting guard attachments. Summary of the invention It is an object of an aspect of the present invention to obviate or at least mitigate the foregoing disadvantages of prior art hair cutting apparatus. It is another object of an aspect of the present invention to provide a robust, reliable and efficient hair comb suitable for cutting hair to variety of lengths. It is a further object of an aspect of the present invention to provide a method of cutting hair with improved efficiency, saving effort and time. Further aims of the invention will become apparent from the following description. According to a first aspect of the invention there is provided a hair comb for cutting hair comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a polygonal profile shape and each side of the polygonal profile has a different length; and

wherein at least two sides of the polygonal profile extend from the base section. The polygonal profile of the tooth may be formed by a plurality of surfaces, sides or edges of the tooth. Preferably the profile is a side profile of the tooth. The profile may be formed a head, scalp and/or neck contacting surface, a cutting device contact surface and a lead surface. Preferably a first side of the polygonal profile which extends from the base section is configured to be contactable with a user's scalp. A second side of the polygonal profile which extends from the base section is configured to be contactable with a cutting device. The first and second sides may extend from the base section. The first side of the polygonal profile may be a side, edge or surface of the tooth which extends from the base section and may be configured to be contactable with a user's scalp, neck and/or head. A second side of the polygonal profile may be a side, edge or surface of the tooth which may extend from the base section and may be configured to be contactable with a cutting device. The first and second sides may extend from the base section. Each tooth may comprise a first surface which may be a side or an edge. The first surface may extend from the base section. The first surface may be configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck. Each tooth may comprise a second surface which may be a side or an edge. The second surface may extend from the base section. The second surface may be configured to guide a cutting device. Each tooth may comprise a third surface which may be a side or an edge. The third surface may be configured to be a leading surface of the tooth. The first, second and/or third surface may have different lengths from each other. The second surface may diverge away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section. The second surface may diverge away from the first surface along the length of the tooth. The second surface may be inclined to the horizontal and/or vertical plane. The second surface may be inclined to the horizontal and/or vertical plane. The first surface and the base section may be in the same plane or a parallel plane. The second surface may extend in a plane inclined to the plane of the first surface and/or base section. By providing a hair comb with polygonal profile shaped teeth having sides of different length, a cutting guide surface may be provided on the comb to allow hair to be cut to a predetermined length as it is exposed to a cutting device. This comb may facilitate accurate cutting of hair by providing one side of the comb adjacent to the users scalp and allowing hair to project through the comb teeth. If any hairs are longer than the width, thickness and/or depth of the comb teeth, they may extend past the second side of the teeth and are exposed to a cutting device. Each of the teeth may be substantially parallel with one another. Preferably each tooth is identical with the same size and shape. The profile of each tooth may be identical. Each of the teeth may have an identical cross-section. The comb may facilitate the rapid and accurate cutting of hair. It may reduce the amount of time spend to achieve hair cut to a predetermined length. The comb may allow the user or hairdresser to adjust or cut the length of hair by selecting a comb having an appropriate tooth width, thickness or depth. The tooth width, thickness and/or depth may be determined by the polygonal profile shape of the tooth. Once the appropriate comb is selected the user can provide a haircut with scissor or trimmers only. There is no need to continually mount or change cutting guards on a trimmer which saves time and energy. The polygonal profile or side profile of each tooth may have at least three sides. The polygonal profile or side profile may be substantially triangular shaped. Preferably the polygonal profile or side profile is substantially scalene triangle shaped. A third side of the tooth profile may be configured to be a leading side. The interface of the first and third sides of the tooth profile may form the tip of the tooth. The third side of the tooth profile may be designed to provide a streamline form to lower the resistance of the tooth as it is moved through the head of hair. This may facilitate the movement and gliding of the comb through the hair and aid in the detangling of strands of hair. The third side of the polygonal profile may be a side, edge or surface of the tooth which may be configured to be a leading side. Preferably the comb has a handle. The handle may be connected to the base section. The handle may be connected to the tooth proximal to the handle. The handle, base section and/or teeth may be formed as an integral unit. The handle may be axially spaced apart from the teeth along the longitudinal axis of the comb body. The handle and/or base section may extend in the same plane and/or a plane parallel to the first surface. Preferably the base section has a longitudinal axis or length. The first side of the tooth profile may extend from the base section in a plane traverse to the longitudinal axis or length of the base section. Each tooth may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and/or handle. The first side of the tooth profile may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis or length of the base section and/or handle. Each tooth may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and in the same plane or a parallel plane of the base section and/or handle. Each tooth may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and in an inclined plane to the base section and/or handle. Each tooth may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and in the same plane or a parallel plane as the longitudinal length of the base section and/or handle. Each tooth may extend from the base section substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal length of the base section and in an inclined plane to the longitudinal plane of the base section and/or handle. The first side of the tooth may be inline and/or flush with the base section. The first side of the tooth may be offset but parallel with a plane of the base section. Each tooth may be connected directly to the base section. The teeth may be identical in size and shape and have an identical profile. The second side of the tooth profile may extend from the base section in a plane inclined to the first side. Preferably the angle of the inclined plane between the first side and the second side is an acute angle. Further preferably the angle of the inclined plane between the first side and the second side is less than 45 degrees. The interface where the second side of the tooth meets the first side of the tooth forms a tooth tip. The first side and the third side converge towards one another in a direction towards the tooth tip. Preferably the interface where the third side of the tooth meets the first side of the tooth forms a tooth tip. The first side and the second side may diverge away from one another along the length of the tooth. The first or second side of the tooth profile may comprise at least one guide region. The first or second side may comprise a plurality of guide regions. The first or second side may comprise markings on its surface to act as a visual guide. The first or second side may comprise markings for the at least one guide region. The comb may be configured to be used with scissors or a trimmer as the cutting device. Embodiments of the second aspect of the invention may include one or more features of the first aspect of the invention or its embodiments, or vice versa. According to a second aspect of the invention there is provided a hair comb comprising: a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a substantially scalene triangular profile and

wherein a first side of the profile is configured to be contactable with a user's scalp; and at least a second side of the profile is configured to be contactable with a cutting device. The first side and second side of the profile may be a side, edge or surface of the tooth which extends from the base section. Preferably the first side and second side extend from the base section. Preferably the first and second sides diverge from one another as they extend from the base section. The second side may diverge from the first side as the first and second sides extend from the base section. Preferably each tooth profile has a third side. The third side of the profile may be a side, edge or surface of the tooth. The interface where the first side of the tooth profile and the third side of the tooth profile meet forms a tip of the tooth. Embodiments of the second aspect of the invention may include one or more features of the first aspect of the invention or its embodiments, or vice versa. According to a third aspect of the invention there is provided a hair comb comprising: a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a substantially scalene triangular profile; and

wherein one side of the scalene triangular tooth is substantially opposite the base section. Embodiments of the third aspect of the invention may include one or more features of the first or second aspects of the invention or its embodiments, or vice versa. According to a fourth aspect of the invention there is provided a method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a hair comb comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a polygonal profile shape and each side of the polygonal profile has a different length; and

wherein a first side and second side of the polygonal profile extend from the base section, positioning the comb such that the first side of the polygonal profile of the tooth contacts a head scalp;

positioning a hair cutting device adjacent to the second side of the polygonal profile of the comb teeth;

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the surface of the second side of the polygonal profile. The method may comprise moving the comb to position the comb such that the first side of the polygonal profile of the tooth contacts a different position on the head scalp. The method may comprise moving the hair cutting device along a first portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a first predetermined length. The method may comprise moving the hair cutting device along a second portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a second predetermined length. Embodiments of the fourth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of the first, second or third aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to a fifth aspect of the invention there is provided a method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a hair comb comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a substantially scalene triangular profile and

wherein a first side of the profile is contactable with a user's scalp; and

at least a second side of the profile is contactable with a cutting device;

positioning the comb such that the first side of the profile contacts a head scalp;

positioning a hair cutting device on the second side of the profile and

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a predetermined length. The first side and second side of the profile may extend from the base section. The method may comprise moving the hair cutting device along a first portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a first predetermined length. The method may comprise moving the hair cutting device along a second portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a second predetermined length. Embodiments of the fifth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to fourth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to a sixth aspect of the invention there is provided a method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb comprises:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a substantially scalene triangular profile and

wherein a first side of the profile is contactable with a user's scalp; and

at least a second side of the profile is contactable with a cutting device;

wherein each comb has a different tooth profile; selecting a comb with a desired tooth profile;

positioning the comb such that the first side of the profile contacts a head scalp;

positioning a hair cutting device on the second side of the profile; and

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the surface of the second side of the profile to trim the hair to a predetermined length. Each comb may have a plurality of teeth which are identical to one another. The substantially scalene triangular tooth profile of each comb may be different. Embodiments of the sixth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to fifth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to a seventh aspect of the invention there is provided a kit of parts comprising: at least one comb for cutting hair;

wherein each of the at least one comb comprises

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section;

wherein each tooth has a polygonal profile shape and each side of the polygonal profile has a different length; wherein at least two sides of the polygonal profile extend from the base section. The kit may comprise a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb has teeth with a different polygonal profile. The kit may comprise a hair cutting device. Embodiments of the seventh aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to sixth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to an eighth aspect of the invention there is provided a kit of parts comprising: at least one comb comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth has a substantially scalene triangular profile. The kit may comprise a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb has teeth with a different scalene triangular profile. The kit may comprise a hair cutting device. Embodiments of the eighth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to seventh aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to a ninth aspect of the invention there is provided a hair comb for cutting hair comprising:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface extending from the base section configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface extending from the base section configured to guide a cutting device; and a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section. Embodiments of the ninth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to eighth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to a tenth aspect of the invention there is provided a method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb comprises:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface extending from the base section configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface extending from the base section configured to guide a cutting device; and a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section; wherein each comb has a different tooth profile;

selecting a comb with a desired tooth profile;

positioning the comb such that the first surface contacts a head, scalp and/or neck; positioning a hair cutting device on the second surface; and

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the second surface to cut the hair to a predetermined length. Embodiments of the tenth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to ninth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. According to an eleventh aspect of the invention there is provided a method of cutting hair comprising:

providing a plurality of hair combs wherein each comb comprises:

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section,

wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface extending from the base section configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface extending from the base section configured to guide a cutting device; and a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section; wherein each comb has a different tooth profile;

selecting a comb with a desired tooth profile;

positioning the comb such that the first surface contacts a head, scalp and/or neck;

positioning a hair cutting device on the second surface; and

moving the hair cutting device along at least a portion of the second surface to cut the hair to a predetermined length. Embodiments of the eleventh aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to tenth aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa.

According to a twelfth aspect of the invention there is provided a kit of parts comprising: at least one comb for cutting hair;

wherein each of the at least one comb comprises

a base section; and

a plurality of teeth extending from the base section, wherein each tooth comprises

a first surface configured to contact a head, scalp and/or neck;

a second surface configured to guide a cutting device; and

a third surface configured to be a leading surface;

wherein the first, second and third surface have different lengths; and wherein the second surface diverges away from the first surface as the tooth extends from the base section. Embodiments of the twelfth aspect of the invention may include one or more features of any of the first to eleventh aspects of the invention or their embodiments, or vice versa. Brief description of the drawings There will now be described, by way of example only, various embodiments of the invention with reference to the drawings, of which: Figures 1A to 1G are schematic perspective views of a hair comb according to a first embodiment of the invention; Figures 2A to 2D are schematic end views of the hair comb of Fig 1A with different tooth profile thicknesses according to an embodiment of the invention; Figures 3A and 3B are schematic representations showing the hair comb in use according to an embodiment of the invention; Figure 4A is schematic perspective view of the hair comb according to an embodiment of the invention; Figure 4B is a schematic end view of the hair comb of Fig 4A according to an embodiment of the invention. Figures 5A is a schematic perspective view of a hair comb according to an embodiment of the invention; Figure 5B are schematic perspective view of the hair comb of Fig 5A with a different tooth profile according to an embodiment of the invention. In the description which follows, like parts are marked throughout the specification and drawings with the same reference numerals. The drawings are not necessarily to scale, and the proportions of certain parts have been exaggerated to better illustrate details and features of embodiments of the invention. Detailed description of preferred embodiments Figures 1 A to 1G show perspective views of the hair cutting comb according to a first embodiment of the present invention. The comb 10 comprises a comb body 12 with a handle section 14 attached at one end. The handle is sized and dimensioned to fit comfortably in a user's hand. The comb body 12 has a plurality of comb teeth 16 extending from a base section 12a. Each of the teeth extend from the base section 12a parallel with one another and define a predetermined gap 18 between adjacent teeth. Each tooth has the same size and shape. The teeth 16 are arrange in an equidistance and parallel configuration with a gap 18 between adjacent teeth. The gap 18 is dimensioned to allow multiple strands of hair to move through the gap simultaneously when the comb is passed through a person's hair. By accommodating multiple strands of hair between each tooth the resistance of passing the comb through the hair is reduced. Figure 1 D shows an end-view of the comb with each tooth 16 having a substantially triangular shaped profile, in particular each tooth has a scalene triangle profile 16a with a lower side 22 and two upper sides 24, 26. All three sides 22, 24 and 26 are of different lengths resulting in the substantially scalene triangular shape. The lower side 22 is configured to contact a person's neck and scalp. A first upper surface 24 is configured to contact and guide a hair cutting device to allow the hair to be cut to a predetermined length. The second upper surface 26 is configured to allow the tooth to move freely through a head of hair. Figure 1 C and 1 D shows that the tooth profile is both scalene and oblique, meaning that none of the corners is a right angle and all three sides are of unequal length. Each of the sides are flat or planar, with the sides 22, 24 and 26 meeting along corners or edges 28. It will be appreciated that the corners 28 may be rounded. Furthermore, the sides may be slightly concave or convex whilst maintaining a substantially scalene triangular profile. Figure 1G shows the dimensions of the comb. The comb has thirty-one teeth 16. Each tooth has length "A" of 44mm. Each tooth 16 has a thickness "B" along the longitudinal axis of the comb of 1 mm. The gap "C" between the teeth is 2mm to allow multiple strands of hair to be located in the gaps as the comb is passed over the head. Each tooth 16 has a width or depth which is measured between lower side 22 and upper sides 24 and 26. The width or depth is measured transverse to the longitudinal axis of the comb or along a cross section of the tooth as shown in Figure 1 G. The width or depth of each tooth has a width or depth "D" of 2mm at the base of the tooth. As the lower side 22 and upper side 24 diverge at they move away from the base section 12a, the tooth width increases to width or depth Έ" of 5mm at point "F" before the width or depth is reduced to reach tooth tip 30. The base section 12a, handle 14 and teeth 16 may be made of any suitable material including plastic, metal and wood. The handle may be made integral with the base section and/or teeth. Depending on the length of the sides 22, 24 and 26 of the tooth profile, a range of tooth shapes each with a different tooth width or depth can be produced as shown in Figures 2A to 2D. Different combs may facilitate the controlled cutting of different of hair lengths ranging from one eighth of an inch to one inch. Figures 2A to 2D shows end- views of four different combs 100, 200, 300 and 400 respectively. The teeth profile of the four combs 100, 200, 300 and 400 are different to allow different hair lengths to be cut. Comb 100 has two cutting guide regions 1 10 and 120. Movement of a cutting device along guide region 110 of the surface 124a of side 124 cuts the hair to a predetermined length of one-eighth of an inch. Movement of a cutting device along guide region 120 of the surface 124a of side 124 cuts the hair at one-quarter of an inch. Similarly, movement of the hair cutter along:

· guide region 210 of the surface 224a of comb 200 results in hair length of three- eighths of an inch.

· guide region 220 of the surface 224a of comb 200 results in hair length of one-half of an inch of hair

· guide region 310 of the surface 324a of comb 300 results in hair length of five- eighths of an inch

Although the above examples describe combs having two cutting guide regions, it will be appreciated that combs may have a plurality of cutting guide regions and may provide a guide for the accurate cutting of a wide range of hair lengths. In the above examples the cutting guide regions are marked on the surface 124a, 224a, 324a and 424a. However, cutting guide regions or markings may alternatively or additionally be located on the surface which contacts the head, neck or scalp. In use, a user such as hairstylist selects an appropriate comb 100, 200, 300, 400 from a selection depending in the desired length of hair and level of graduation. As an example, as shown in Figure 3A, comb 100 is selected to produce a hair length of one-quarter of an inch. The hairstylist grips the handle 112 and positions the comb such that the longitudinal length of the handle and base section are substantially horizontal and the lower side 122 is in close contact with the base of the neck. The tips 130 of the teeth are pointed upwards toward to the top of the head. The comb is moved in an upward direction to allow strands of hair to move between the gaps 118 of the comb. Any hairs that are longer than one-eighth of an inch protrude through the comb at region 1 10 and are exposed to the hair cutting device. Example hair cutting devices that may be used include scissors or a hair clipper. The hair cutting device is positioned and moved along region 1 10 such that is contacts and follows surface 124a of side 124. This movement of the hair cutting device along surface 124a cuts any protruding hair and produces a hair length of one-eighth of an inch. As hair stylist moves the comb to follow the hairline at the base of the neck and around the ears the side 122 contacts the scalp and a hair cutting device is repeatedly moved along region 1 10 on surface 124a of comb 100 to ensure that the hair length is cut to one-eighth of an inch. As the comb is moved towards the crown of the head the hairstylist moves the cutting device within region 120 such that device cuts the hair at one quarter of inch in length. To ensure proper blending and avoid visible lines of demarcation the hairstylist may depending on the individual hair style decide to graduate, blend or fade the hair cut by cutting the hair at a gradually longer length as the comb is moved towards the crown. The hairstylist moves the cutting device along the intersection of regions 1 10 and 120 such that device cuts the hair between one eighth of inch and one quarter of inch in length. The shallow depth of the tooth at the base which gradually increases along the length of the tooth allows the hair cut to be cut in a naturally shape. The comb has markings 150 on the surface 124a so that the boundaries of section 1 10 and section 120 are clearly indicated as shown in Figure 3A and 3B. As shown in Figure 3B, comb 300 is selected to produce a hair length of five-eighth of an inch. The hairstylist grips the handle and positions the comb such that the lower side 322 is in close contact with the base of the neck. The tips 130 of the teeth are pointed upwards toward to the top of the head. The comb is moved in an upward direction to allow strands of hair to move between the the comb at region 310 and are exposed to the hair cutting device. Example hair cutting devices that may be used include scissors or a hair clipper. The hair cutting device is positioned and moved along region 310 such that it contacts and follows surface 324a of side 324. This movement of the hair cutting device along surface 324a cuts any protruding hair and produces a hair length of five-eighth of an inch. If the hair stylist desires the cut the hair at three-quarters of an inch the cutting device is moved within region 320 such that device cuts the hair at three-quarter of inch in length. Figure 4A shows a comb 410 comprises a comb body 412 with a handle section 414 attached at one end. The handle is sized and dimensioned to fit comfortably in a user's hand. The handle is axial spaced apart from the teeth to ensure that the users hand gripping the handle does not interfere or hinder the movement of the teeth through the head of hair and the action of the cutting device along the comb. The comb body 412 has a plurality of comb teeth 416 extending from a base section 412a. Each of the teeth extend from the base section 412a parallel with one another and define a predetermined gap 418 between adjacent teeth. Figure 4B shows an end-view of the comb with each tooth having a substantially triangular shaped profile, in particular each tooth has a scalene triangle profile 416a with a lower side 422 and two upper sides 424, 426. All three sides 422, 424 and 426 are of different lengths resulting in the substantially scalene triangular shape. The lower side 422 is configured to contact a person's neck and scalp. A first upper surface 424 is configured to contact and guide a hair cutting device to allow the hair to be cut to a predetermined length. The second upper surface 426 is configured to allow the tooth to move freely through a head of hair. Figures 4A and 4B shows the dimensions of the comb. The base section of the comb has a width or Depth "W" of 5mm and a height Ή" of 8mm. The base section has a triangular profile, shown best in Figure 4B and provides support and stability to the teeth 416. Each tooth has length "A" of 44mm. Each tooth 16 has a thickness "B" along the longitudinal axis of the comb of 1 mm. The gap "C" between the teeth is 2mm to allow multiple strands of hair to be located in the gaps as the comb is passed over the head. Each tooth 416 has a width or depth which is measured between lower side 422 and upper sides 424 and 426. The width or depth is measured transverse to the longitudinal axis of the comb or along a cross-section of the tooth. The width or depth of each tooth has a width or depth "D" of 2mm at the base of the tooth at the interface with the base section 412a. As the lower side 422 and upper side 424 diverge at they move away from the base section 412a, the tooth width or depth increases to width or depth Έ" of 5mm at point "F" before the width or depth is reduced to reach tooth tip 430. The base section 412a, handle 414 and teeth 416 may be made of any suitable material including plastic, metal and wood. It is preferable that the handle, teeth and base section are integrally formed as a single unit. However, it will be appreciated that the handle, teeth and base sections may be formed as individual components and connected together. Figures 5A show a perspective view of a hair cutting comb according to an embodiment of the present invention. The comb 500 comprises a comb body 512 with a handle section 514 attached at one end. The handle is sized and dimensioned to fit comfortably in a user's hand. The handle 514 has a hook 514b at one end to allow the comb to hang when not in use. The comb body 512 has a plurality of comb teeth 516 extending from a base section 512a. A thickened end section 512b laterally encloses the teeth. Each of the teeth extend from the base section 512a parallel with one another and define a predetermined gap 518 between adjacent teeth. Each tooth has the same size and shape. The teeth 516 are arranged in an equidistance and parallel configuration with a gap 518 between adjacent teeth. The teeth 516 have a substantially wedge shape. Each tooth 516 has a first surface (side or edge) 522 which is configured to contact a person's head, neck and/or scalp. Each tooth 516 also has a second surface (side or edge) 524 which is configured to contact and guide a hair cutting device to allow the hair to be cut to a predetermined length. Each tooth 516 has a third surface (side or edge) 526. The third surface 526 is configured to be a leading side designed to allow the tooth to move freely through a head of hair. The first, second and third surface form a tooth profile 516a. Each tooth 516 has a substantially triangular shaped side profile, in particular each tooth has a scalene triangle side profile 516a formed from the first (lower) surface 522 and two upper surfaces which comprise the second surface 524 and the third surface 526. All three surfaces 522, 524 and 526 are of different lengths and the second and third surfaces are inclined relative to the first surface resulting in the substantially scalene triangular shaped profile. The tooth profile is both scalene and oblique, meaning that none of the corners is a right angle and all three surfaces are of unequal length. Each of the surfaces 522, 524 and 526 are flat or planar with the sides meeting along corners or edges 528. However, it will be appreciated that the surface may be curved. The comb 500 has thirty-one teeth 516. Each tooth has length of 44mm. Each tooth 516 has a thickness along the longitudinal axis of the comb of 1 mm. The gap between the teeth is 2mm to allow multiple strands of hair to be located in the gaps as the comb is passed over the head. Each tooth 516 has a depth which is measured along a cross section of the tooth between the first surface 522 and the respective second and third surfaces 524 and 526. The tooth has a first depth proximal to the base section, a second depth distal to the base section at the tip of the tooth. The tooth has a third depth at a point along the tooth length shown as point X in Figure 5A. The second surface 524 diverges or is inclined from the first surface 522 at the tooth extends from the base section 512a, thereby changing the tooth depth. The third surface 526 converges or is inclined to the first surface 522 at the tooth extends towards the tooth tip 530, thereby changing the tooth depth. The tooth depth gradually increases from the first depth until it reaches the intersection of the second and third surface, point X at in Figure 5A, before the tooth depth is reduced to reach tooth tip 530. The handle section 514 is attached at one end of the comb body and it extends in the same plane or a plane parallel to the first surface 522. This allows the user to grip the comb and keep the users hand and fingers away from the teeth. The handle is also kept at a distance from the second surface to allow the cutting device to move along the second surface unhindered. The handle may be laterally offset from the plane of the teeth or the plane of first surface 522. Figure 5B shows comb 600 which is similar to comb 500 and will be understood from the description of Figure 5A. However, in comb 600 as shown in Figure 5B, the length of the second surface (side) 624 is longer than the corresponding second surface 524 of the teeth in Figure 5A. Also, the length of the third surface (side) 626 of each tooth is shorter than the corresponding third surface 526 of the teeth in Figure 5A. The profile of the teeth in Figures 5A and 5B are different. Depending on the relative lengths of the surfaces 622, 624 and 626 a range of tooth profile shapes each with a different tooth width or depth can be produced. This allows a range of cutting gradients or lengths to be produced. In this example the second surface 624 of the comb 600 diverges away from the first surface 622 at a smaller incline angle to the horizontal plane than the corresponding second surface 524 in comb 500 shown in Figure 5A. As a result, when a cutting device is moved along the surface of second side 624 it is in a closer position to the scalp and allows hair to be cut at a shorter length. Controlling the lengths of the sides of the scalene profile a range of cut lengths may be produced. The cuts may range from one eighth of an inch to one inch. The teeth 516 and 616 have markings on their surfaces to act as a visual guide to indicate to the user the length that the hair will be cut to if the cutting device is moved over the surface of the second side 524 and 624 adjacent to that marking. In these examples the markings are located on the first side 522, 622. However, the markings may be located additionally or alternatively on the second sider 524 and 624. Throughout the specification, unless the context demands otherwise, the terms 'comprise' or 'include', or variations such as 'comprises' or 'comprising', 'includes' or 'including' will be understood to imply the inclusion of a stated integer or group of integers, but not the exclusion of any other integer or group of integers. Furthermore, relative terms such as", "lower", "upper, "up", "down", above, below and the like are used herein to indicate directions and locations as they apply to the appended drawings and will not be construed as limiting the invention and features thereof to particular arrangements or orientations. The invention provides a hair comb comprising a base section and a plurality of teeth extending from the base section. Each tooth has a polygonal profile shape and each side of the polygonal profile has a different length. At least two sides of the polygonal profile extend from the base section. The invention may provide a robust, reliable and efficient hair comb suitable for cutting hair to variety of lengths. Although in some of the above examples, the base section has a triangular profile, it will be appreciated that other profile shapes may be used. The profile shape may be selected to provide structural and stability support to the teeth and handle. The profile shape may be selected to provide enable the comb to pass through the hair with little resistance and/or promote separation of the hair strands. An alternative embodiment of the invention may comprise the teeth profile having a polygon shape profile which is not triangular. It will be appreciated that other tooth profile shapes may be used. The profile shape may be selected to provide support to the cutting device. The profile shape may be selected to contact the scalp and enable the comb to pass through the hair with little resistance and/or promote separation of the hair strands.
