Abstract:
Provided are a hair-straightening agent comprising citric acid as a main component and a method for treating hair. The hair-straightening agent is characterized by containing neither thioglycolic acid nor glycolic acid, containing 1.0-4.0 mass% citric acid, and having a pH in the range of 3.0-7.0. Since citric acid salts have high stability in storage, the hair-straightening agent can retain the quality over a long period. Incorporation of a soluble keratin can prolong the hair-straightening effect. Damage can be avoided, because the hair-straightening agent contains neither a reducing agent nor a sulfinic acid salt.
