A hand drying device (100) comprising: a casing (1) having a recessed section formed therein that creates a hand insertion section (3) on the inside thereof that is a space in which a hand can be inserted and removed; a nozzle (12) that jets an airflow downwards from above the hand insertion section (3); a water receptacle having a rear surface-side water receptacle (4a) arranged to the rear of the hand insertion section (3) and a bottom surface-side water receptacle (4b) arranged below the hand insertion section (3); and a drain container (6) attached to and detached from the casing (1), below the bottom surface-side water receptacle (4b). The bottom surface-side water receptacle (4b) has: a fixed floor surface section formed integrally with the rear surface-side water receptacle (4a); and an attachment/detachment floor surface section (42b) that covers an upper end section of the drain container (6) and is attachable to and detachable from the casing (1) in conjunction with the drain container (6). The drain container (6) and the attachment/detachment floor surface section (42b) have mutually engaging fitting sections provided at a plurality of locations in the front/rear directions thereof. The attachment/detachment floor surface section (42b) is fitted to the drain container (6) from the rear.
