Title:
HAND FIN
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/116135
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention applies to swimming equipment, can be used by swimmers, divers, holidaymakers and by those who love swimming. Hand fin is a lengthened plate with longitudinal fixation to the swimmer's hand. Hand fin gives an opportunity to simplify the swimming technique, eliminating the use of legs in the process thus removing idle vibration, with certain swimming technique will give chance to use two phases of hand's move with the fin. Additionally enables to modify the fin's blade angle of attack, and as there is much more mobility of the swimmer's hands will let the swimmer choose optimal rowing movements for certain tasks. Moreover, as there is no need to use legs, it gives disabled people with locomotive system disturbance an opportunity to swim.

Claims:
Claim

1. Hand fin for swimming, fixed to the palm side of the swimmer's hand, differing by its lengthened construction of the plate, with more and less flexible parts, with longitudinal fixation to the swimmer's hand at a less flexible surface, from the hand's base and, at the very least, to the fingers' base; the more flexible part is the continuation of the less flexible part, juts out the swimmer's hand minimum at palm's length.

2. Hand fin (p.l) differing by the fact that its fixation is made to the palm with straightened fingers by two fasteners - palm, clasping swimmer's hand at palm base, and finger fastener, clasping the fingers.

3. Hand fin (p.l) differing by the fact that the paddle has the handle for the finger clasp and palm fastener, clasping swimmer's hand at palm's base.

Description:
Hand fin

Description

The invention applies to swimming equipment, can be used by swimmers, divers,

holidaymakers and by those who love swimming.

There are several types of widespread swimming devices that increase the effectiveness of swimmer's hands.

To such devices refer:

-Swimmer's training device (SU 1704801 Al, A63 B 31/12, 69/12). This is a plate made of hard material that is fixed to swimmer's palm to enlarge the rowing surface;

-Swimming gloves (SU 952280 1982 year, SU 450740 1975 year). These are gloves of elastic material with webs between fingers to enlarge the rowing surface;

The main disadvantages of those devices are:

-idle vibration of the swimmer's body due to the by-turn strokes;

-only one surface of the device is used and one phase of the hand's move at a stroke;

-only generally accepted styles of swimming are acceptable: breaststroke, crawl, and butterfly;

-swimming of the disabled people with locomotive system disturbance is hampered;

The suggested device helps to simplify swimming technique, giving the opportunity not to use legs in the process to eliminate idle vibration; with certain technique gives chance to use two phases of the hand's move with the fin. The device gives also an opportunity to modify the fin's blade angle of attack during the row, and, due to hands' great mobility will let the swimmer choose optimal rowing movements for certain tasks. Moreover, as there is no need to use legs, it gives disabled people with locomotive system disturbance an opportunity to swim.

The device's entity is illustrated on the drafts, where fig.l and fig.2 show the hand fin in two views and with two possible fixation systems, fig.3 show the swimming method with hand fin.

Hand fin (fig.l) is a lengthened plate with longitudinal fixation to the swimmer's hand at a less flexible surface 2, from the hand's base and, at the very least, to the fingers' base. The more flexible part 1 is the continuation of the less flexible part, juts out the swimmer's hand minimum at palm's length and is the main rowing surface. Less flexible part enables safe fixation of the fin to the hand for the more accurate fin control. More flexible part enables to modify the fin's blade angle of attack.

Fin's fixation to the hand performed by the finger fastener 3 and palm fastener 4, less flexible part of the fin reaches the fingertips. Finger fixation (fig.2) can be replaced by the handle 3, with such fixation the less flexible part of the fin reaches the handle and the more flexible juts out the handle minimum at palm's length.

This fin disposition enables the swimmer to imitate the movement of the fishtail, pulling apart and bringing together the hands, and to use for the stroke both phases (fig.3). Both hands can move synchronously in antiphase to each other that will eliminate the idle vibration of the swimmer's body. There is no need to use legs in the process of swimming as two phases of the hand fin are working.

The invention has simple construction, and won't require much time for mastering, as rowing movements pretty easy.
