A plurality of hair styling elements (107, 207) extending generally away from the body (103, 303, 403, 503) are mounted on the exposed surface (149) of the rotatable base (137, 237, 337, 437, 537, 637, 737, 837) for rotation relative to the body (103,303,403,503) with the rotatable base (137, 237, 337, 437, 537, 637, 737, 837). A method of styling hair includes rotating the rotatable base (137, 237, 337, 437, 537, 637, 737, 837) and the hair styling elements (107, 207) thereon while at least some of the hair styling elements (107, 207) are in contact with a person's hair (191).
