A handheld tool, comprising a motor (11), a spindle (12), and a cover (14). The cover comprises a cover main body (141) and a cover auxiliary member (142); the cover auxiliary member is operable with respect to the cover main body to switch between a first state of and a second state of being fixed to a housing; in the first state, the cover auxiliary member is located on the side of the cover main body close to the motor and overlap the cover main body; in the second state, the cover auxiliary member is located on the side of the cover main body distant from the motor and forms, together with the cover main body, a receiving cavity (106) for receiving a tool head; the cover auxiliary member is non-detachably connected to the cover main body, and can rotate and axially move with respect to a guide column to switch between the first and second states. A same cover for the handheld tool can adapt to multiple types of tool heads, and the cover is convenient to operate during state switching and is not easy to lose. Also provided are an operation method for the handheld tool, a cover for the handheld tool, and another handheld tool.
