Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention discloses a handoff method, device and system belonging to the communication field, which can guarantee the continuity of the service in the process of handing off a dual-mode terminal from a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) network to a Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) network under the operation mode of a single radio frequency. The technical solution provided by the embodiments of the present invention is as follows. The handoff method includes: receiving a first request message transmitted by the terminal through a WiMAX access network; acquiring information of WiFi network access points (APs) near the terminal from an AP information server according to the terminal position information carried in the said first request message; determining a target AP and providing said target AP information to the terminal through a first response message; starting and completing the pre-authentication process from the terminal to the WiFi network. The technical solution provided by the embodiments of the present invention applies to the wireless communication system.
