Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides a handover method. The method comprises: after a source base station determines to hand over a user equipment to a destination base station, the source base station sends a handover request message to a source core network device, the handover request message comprising identifier information of a destination core network device, and the handover request message being used for instructing the source core network device and the destination core network device to perform a core network migration process. The handover method can be applicable to a scenario in which the destination base station supports a source core network and a destination core network at the same time; by carrying identifier information of the destination core network device in the handover request message, the source core network device can accurately identify the destination core network device, and accordingly the core network migration is implemented, thereby improving the handover efficiency.
