Abstract:
Provided is a handover method which can improve the communication efficiency by reducing the tunnel overhead between a mobile terminal and a home agent. When the mobile terminal (UE) (107) handovers (HO) from a first access router (104) to a second access router (105) and if the IP versions supported by the network before and after the HO are different, the UE transmits a first message containing a request for allocating a home address of the HO destination to the home agent (HA) via the first access router (104) and a second message containing an address acquisition request via the second access router (105). The HA transmits to the UE, a third message containing the home address of the HO destination in accordance with the allocation request and transmits to the UE, a fourth message containing the home address in accordance with the address acquisition request.
