Abstract:
A handrail belt and escalator capable of preventing a falling accident at a landing
of the escalator and a passenger from going in the opposite direction of the escalator.
The handrail belt (5) has a flat surface section (5A) and both edge sections (5B)
and moves in synchronous with steps (4) of the escalator (1), turning around at
turn around sections (11A, 11B) to change its movement direction from a forward
run to a return run. The handrail belt (5) a printed sheet (6) on its surface and
has a substantially C-shaped cross-section. The printed sheet (6) has direction
display bodies (6A, 6B) displaying the direction of its movement. The direction
display bodies (6A, 6B) have a color different from a ground color of the printed
sheet (6) and are separately arranged on the flat surface section (5A) and both
edge sections (5B) of the handrail belt (5). The direction display bodies (6A,
6B) are arranged with intervals where at least either of the direction display
bodies (6A, 6B) is present in the turn around sections (11A, 11B).
