Abstract:
The present invention provides a HUD system which can be made compact at low cost, and a light source device for the HUD. This head-up display device includes: an image display device for generating image light to be projected; an optical system for carrying out prescribed correction to the image light from the image display device; and a concave mirror for reflecting the image light corrected by the optical system and projecting the reflected light onto a windshield or a combiner. The image display device comprises a display device, and a lighting optical system configured from a solid-state light source, a collimating optical system that converts the light from the solid-state light source to substantially parallel light, and an optical member that deflects the beam created by the collimating optical system while widening the beam width. The image display device is configured to be disposed on the optical axis of the concave mirror so as to face the concave mirror with the optical system sandwiched therebetween.
