Abstract:
A head-up display device (100) for a vehicle reflects, onto a windshield (20) or a combiner, display light transmitted through a dust cover (150), to display display information as a virtual image visible from a driver seat of the vehicle. The head-up display device (100) is configured such that: the dust cover (150) is provided with light-transmittance properties produced by being subjected to rolling; a line connecting a first point at a first end side of a display in a length direction, and a second point at a second end side in an opposite direction from the first end side, said second point being at the same height as the first point, is set as a length-direction axis (121); and the brightness of the virtual image is adjusted by adjusting the angle formed between a rolling direction of a resin sheet used for the dust cover (150), and a virtual-image length-direction axis (121a) corresponding to the length-direction axis in a virtual image of the display (120), said virtual image having been reflected by a reflecting mirror (130). As a result, the brightness of a virtual image can be adjusted by changing the polarization state of display light, without leading to an increase in the number of components and the physical size.
