Abstract:
This head-up display device displays a virtual image by video to an operator by projecting video onto a windshield of a vehicle, the device comprising: a video display means that has a light source and a display element and that forms video; a means for displaying the virtual image in front of the vehicle by projecting video light emitted from the video display means onto the windshield and allowing the video light to be reflected; an operator viewpoint sensing means for sensing the viewpoint of the operator; and a means for shifting the position of the virtual image projected by the video display means on the basis of information on the viewpoint of the operator sensed by the operator viewpoint sensing means. The operator viewpoint sensing means senses the viewpoint of the operator by illuminating the face of the operator using light from an indoor lamp or the light source of the video display means as illumination light during nighttime or the like.
