Abstract:
This head-up display (HUD) device having a light-field-type stereoscopic display unit averts loss of proper light-field rendering ability due to overlap between pixels for displaying one image and pixels for displaying another image. The HUD device has a light-field-type stereoscopic display unit 230 and a control unit 300, wherein the control unit 300 carries out overlap suppression control processes that include: determining, between first pixels in a display used when a first image is displayed in a first display position and second pixels used when a second image is displayed in a second display position, at least one of whether overlap has occurred and whether there is a possibility of overlap occurring; if overlapping has occurred or there is a possibility of overlap occurring, prioritizing display of the image with the higher display priority level; and hiding the display of, or reducing the brightness of, at least the overlapping portion of the pixels of the image with the lower priority level.
