[Best Mode]

<75> The structure of a headgear to which a detachable ornament is attached, will be explained in detail below, with reference to a few preferred embodiments and accompanying drawings.

<76> In the following description, a headgear is classified into two cases in which the headgear covers the head and not.

<77> First of all, a headgear 100 covering the head as illustrated in FIG. 1 includes a visor 110 to shade the eyes, a cap 120 to cover the head, and a support band (not shown) to securely support the visor 110 and the cap 120.

<78> The support band has a predetermined degree of elasticity to securely support the head so that the headgear is not moved out of the head. In the absence of the support band, an adjusting part (not shown) may be provided at the back of the headgear 100 to adjust the circumference of the cap 120 according to the head size. The support band may be implemented as an elastic film or rubber band having a predetermined strength and elasticity.

<79> The headgear 100 covering the head may be classified into one that has

the visor 110 in the front portion as illustrated in FIG. 1 to shade the direct rays of the sun coming from a front direction, and the other (not shown) that has the front visor 110 and side visors 110 to shade the rays of the sun coming from not only the front direction but also the side directions. The present invention is applicable to both the headgear 100 having the front visor 110 only, and the headgear 100 having the front visor 110 and the side visors 110.

<80> Referring to FIG. 2, a headgear 200 not covering the head includes a visor 210 to keep from the sunlight, and a support band 230 to securely support the visor 210 with respect to the head. The headgear 200 may be classified into one having the support band 230 configured in a closed loop shape and surrounding the entire head, and the other having the support band 230 configured in an open loop shape and having a space at the back. In the latter's case, the visor 210 is brought to a close contact with the head solely by the elasticity of the support band 230 (see FIG. 2).

<8i> The present invention is applicable to both the headgear 200 having the closed support band 230 and the headgear 200 having the open support band 230.

<82> The term 'headgear' or 'sunscreen headgear' in the following description refers to either the headgear with the cap 120, or the headgear without the cap 120.

<83> Referring to FIG. 3, the headgear 100 may additionally include a lining 140 formed on the inner side of the cap 120 or of the support band 230, to protect the head from external impact , or to prevent mark of the cap 120 on the forehead. The lining 140 may be made from synthetic resin or leather. Alternatively, the lining 140 may be made from moisture absorbing fabric such as cotton. The lining 140 may be integrally formed with the cap 120, or it may be separately provided.

<84> The main aspect of the present invention is that the headgear 100, 200 has aesthetically appealing function in addition to the function of shading sunshine or protecting head, because the headgear 100, 200 is constructed to

enable attachment and detachment of a variety of ornaments 500.

<85> The ornaments 500 are shaped to various configurations and patterns, to satisfy increasing demands of the wearers of the headgears. Additionally, various types of fixing structures are provided, to enable a user to selectively attach and detach the ornaments 500 to and from the headgear 100, 200.

<86> Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, and as explained above, the lining 140 is provided on the inner surface of the cap 120. Engaging parts 300 are positioned in the inner surface of the lining 140. The lining 140 may be adhered to the lower side of the cap 120 by an adhereing method such as sewing or the like, or the lining 140 may be spaced apart from the lower side of the cap 120 and engaged with the cap 120 by appropriate means. The former will be explained below.

<87> Referring to FIG. 4, fastening holes 142 are formed in the lower side of the cap 120 adjoning the lining 140. A engaging parts 300 are positioned in the upper and lower part of the fastening hole 141. The engaging parts 300 may be classified into fixing type and non-fixing type. The fixing type engaging parts 300 may use hooking or press-fitting, or the like. The engaging parts 300 may be hidden within the cap 120, or exposed to the outside.

<88> For example, if the engaging parts 300 are fixing type, referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, the engaging parts 300 include stoppers 310 formed above the fastening holes 142 and seated inside the lining 140, and hooks 320 extending from the stoppers 310 for a predetermined length and engaged with the ornaments 500. The stoppers 310 are sized larger than the fastening holes 142 so as to be secured in place by hooking with the connecting part between the lining 140 and the cap 120.

<89> The hooks 320 may be formed in a substantially closed-annular configuration. Alternatively, hooks 322 may have a substantially C configuration and have one open part. Alternatively, hooks 326 may be configured so that springs disposed within the hooks 320 support operating

pieces 324 and selectively open and close the hooks 326. The hooks 320, 322, 326 are disposed below the lining 140.

<90> In the above situation, the hooks 320 are exposed outside the cap 120, but alternatively, the hooks 320 may be hidden in the lining 140 (FIG. 5). Also in the above situation, it is necessary that engaging parts of the ornaments for engagement with the hooks 320, 322, 326 are formed in the form of hooks 520.

<9i> In the case of press-fitting illustrated in FIG. 6, the engaging parts 300 include stoppers 330 disposed above the fastening holes 142 and seated inside the lining 140, and groove type hooks 340 extending from the stoppers 330 by a predetermined length and engaged with the ornaments 500. Engaging parts of the ornaments for engagement with the groove type hooks 340 may desirably be hooks 530 having uneven surface. Accordingly, the hooks 340, 530 are securely engaged by press-fitting.

<92> The press-fitting type engaging holes may have snap buttons 350 or magnet buttons 360. Referring to FIGS. 7, 8, 9 and 10, a space is defined between the borders of the lining 140 and the cap 120, so that the snap buttons 350 and the magnet buttons 360 are hidden between the lining 140 and the cap 120. The ornaments are engaged with the buttons 350, 360 thruogh the space between the lining 140 and the cap 120. Referring to FIGS. 11 and 12, the engaging part 300 may be replaced by a Velcro tape 370. Accordingly, the engaging part of the ornaments may include snap buttons 550, magnetic buttons 560 and Velcro tapes 570.

<93> For example, a girl who has a short hair may want to attach a wig, which is large enough to cover her ears and back of her head. Velcro tapes 370, 570 may be the appropriate examples of attaching the wig to the headgear 100.

<94> In the absence of the lining 140, the hooks 340 may be disposed inside the cap 120 (FIG. 13), or as illustrated in FIG. 14, Velctro tape 370 may be directly fixed. Although not illustrated, the hooks 340 or the Velcro tape 370 may be disposed on the outer surface of the cap 120, without degrading

appearance of the headgear 100.

<95> Referring to FIG. 15, a plurality of piercing pieces 380 may be formed along the lower edge of the cap 120 in a length direction, and the ornaments 500 having hook type engaging parts may be engaged with the piercing pieces 380. The piercing pieces 380 may be formed in the place other than the lower edge of the cap 120. For example, the piercing pieces 380 may be formed in the upper side of the cap 120, or formed in the visor 110 as occasion demnds.

<96> The hole is pierced through one spot of the cap 120, if the piercing piece 380 is formed at the edge of the cap 120. However, the hole is pierced through two spots of the cap 120, if the piercing piece 380 is formed at the upper part of the cap 120.

<97> The engaging parts 300 are not limited to be formed inside the cap 120 or in the lower end of the cap 120 only. For those who have a good head of hair, the ornaments 500 may be disrupting if the ornaments 500 are hung on the lower end of the cap 120. In this case, a lever type engaging part 390 may be extended externally from the cap 120. Accordingly, a hole is formed in the upper portion of the cap 120 so that the ornaments 500 can be attached from outside. The lever type engaging part 390 includes a stopper 392 seated on the hole inside the cap 120, a hook 394 extending from the stopper 392 and projected to the outside of the cap 120 for engagement with the ornaments 500, and a wire 396 passing the hole, connecting the stopper 392 and the hook 394.

<98> In one implementation of the present invention (FIG. 17), the ornaments 500 may be directly attached through a hole formed in the headgear 100, instead of providing a separate engaging part 300.

<99> A movable engaging part may be provided, which is movable in a rail manner. Referring to FIGS. 18 and 19, the movable engaging part includes a rail 402 elongated along the edge of the cap 120 in a length direction, and a movable hole 406 to slide along the rail 402. The movable hole 406 may be impelemeted as a variety of alternative engaging means, including rings, hooks, or the like. Accordingly, the ornaments 500 are hung on the movable

hole 406, and swung to and fro.

<ioo> Referring to FIG. 2, the headgear 200 not covering the head includes the visor 210 to shade the sunlight, and the support band 230 to securely fix the visor 210 on the head. Referring to FIGS. 20 and 21, the support band 230 includes an inner surface 232, an outer surface 234, and an elastic material 236 disposed between the inner and outer surfaces 232, 234 to reinforce the strength and to provide elastic force. Accordingly, the engaging part is disposed between the inner and outer surfaces 232, 234 and the elastic material 236.

<ioi> In particular, because the fastening hole is formed between the borders of the inner and outer surfaces 232, 234, the engaging part includes a stopper 450 seated on the inner side of the outer surface, and a hook 460 extending from the stopper 450 to be engaged with the ornaments 500. The fastening hole is sized smaller than the stopper 450.

<iO2> The hook 460 may be open or closed type. Referring to FIG. 22, the engaging part may be impelemted as a groove type hook 470. Although not illustrated in the drawings, an opening may be formed between the borders of the inner and outer surfaces 232, 234, and the hook 460 may be fixed in place hidden between the inner and outer surfaces 232, 234. A snap button 480 may be formed on the outer side of the outer surface 234, in a manner that does not affect the apperance.

<i03> The ornaments 500 are not limited to certain types described above. That is, the ormaments 500 may be any accessory according to user preference that has a fastening hole corresponding to the engaging part 300, and that enhances decorative feature of the headgear.

<iO4> For example, a pendant including transparent or opaque frame made of synthetic resin, and an accessory disposed inside or outside the frame may be used (FIG. 15). Referring to FIG. 13 or FIG. 17, a bead type accessory having a decorative string added with beads may be used. A plurality of strings may be provided in different lengths, which can satisfy a wearer's intention to express colorfulness. Referring to FIG. 1 or FIG. 2, the ornament 500 may be

human wig or artificial hair wig attached to the headgear, so that those who have short hair or hair loss can have improved apperance. The wig may be partially or entirely dyed to meet the customer's demand for more unique color and pattern of hair. Headgears can be appended with a variety of ornaments. For example, headgears usually worn by the sportsfans such as baseball or football fans may be appended with materials bearing logos or advertisement of the sponsoring companies, or materials bearing chants cheering the supporting teams. Headgears worn by the teenagers can be appended with photos or printed materials about the entertainers and the teenagers can wear the headgears in the activity such as fanclub meeting in concerts.

<iO5> As explained above, the technical concept of the present invention includes providing a headgear having not only protective function, which is the basic function of a headgear, but also decorative function. That is, an engaging part is provided in a headgear, enabling a wearer to select an ornament appealing to him or her and attach or detach the ornament. The engaging part is variably provided depending on the types and pattern of the headgears. The engaging part may be provided inside the headgear if the headgear has a visor to shade the sun and a cap to fix the visor to the head. In this case, fastening holes are pierced through the cap so that various ornaments such as rings, hooks, Velcro tapes, snap buttons, or magnet buttons can be attached inside and outside the cap. If the headgear includes a visor to shade the sun, a cap to fix the visor to the head, and a lining provided inside the cap, an engaging part is provided between the lining and the cap. If the headgear includes a visor, and a support band to fix the visor to the head, and the support band is made of elastic material disposed between inner and outer surfaces to provide elastic force, an engaging part is provided between the inner surface and the elastic material.

<iO6> Although a few embodiments of the present general inventive concept have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the

principles and spirit of the general inventive concept, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.
