Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a heat exchanger which allows a refrigerant to flow uniformly without using a complex structure even with a configuration in which the refrigerant circulates through upward core portions and downward core portions. [Solution] Predetermined formulae are established from the relationship among the number of tubes 20, the total flow cross-sectional area of the tubes 20, the length in the header axial direction of the refrigerant circulation space of a header 10, the maximum cross-sectional area in the header radial direction of the refrigerant circulation space 10a of the header 10, and the minimum cross-sectional area in the header radial direction of the refrigerant circulation space 10a of the header 10 in a single upward core portion or a single downward core portion. The minimum and maximum shape coefficients of the upward core portion and the minimum and maximum shape coefficients of the downward core portion as calculated using the respective predetermined formulae fall within predetermined ranges. Thus, using the factors identifying the shape of the heat exchanger, it is possible to determine the shape of the heat exchanger such that the flow of a refrigerant is made uniform.
