A heat exchanging unit capable of cleaning the inside of a heat exchanging element sufficiently. The heat exchanging unit (100, 200) comprises an indoor air exhaust passage (8), an outdoor air supply passage (9), a heat exchanging element (12, 220), a catalyst, and a first active species forming section (15). The indoor air exhaust passage (8) is a passage for exhausting the indoor air outdoors as an exhaust air (EA). The outdoor air supply passage (9) is a passage for supplying the outdoor air indoors as a supply air (SA). The heat exchanging element (12, 220) is an element for exchanging at least the sensible heat out of sensible heat and latent heat between the exhaust air (EA) and the supply air (SA). The heat exchanging element (12, 220) communicates with the indoor air exhaust passage (8) and the outdoor air supply passage (9). The catalyst is supported by the heat exchanging element (12, 220) and decomposes, annihilates or inactivates matters floating in the air when it is activated. The active species forming section (15) is arranged in at least one of the supply air upstream and the exhaust upstream of the heat exchanging element (12, 220). An active species is formed at the species forming section (15).
