Abstract:
A heat pump device (1) using the electrocaloric effect, which transports heat using the electrocaloric effect, comprises: an electrocaloric element (3) comprising an electrocaloric effect member (31) and an electrode (32) for applying an electric field to the electrocaloric effect member; and a heat pipe (2) configured from a hollow container comprising a heat receiving section (21), a connecting section (22), and a heat radiating section (23), and working fluid and steam from the working fluid that are enclosed in the interior of the hollow container. The connecting section of the heat pipe is configured with a member with a lower thermal conductivity than the heat receiving section, and the electrocaloric element is configured to be connected to the heat receiving section of the heat pipe. By virtue of this configuration, the heat generation and heat absorption of the electrocaloric effect can be separated without movable parts being provided, and a heat pump device using the electrocaloric effect can be provided that is highly efficient and reliable.
