Abstract:
Disclosed is a heat pump which has improved thermal efficiency without the provision of an oil cooler, and which can be used even at high temperatures when the temperature of a heating medium discharged from a screw compressor is 150°C or higher, and also provided is a method for operating the heat pump. The heat pump comprises: an oil supply type compressor for compressing a heating medium; an oil separator/collector for separating oil from the heating medium discharged from the compressor and returning the oil to the compressor; a condenser for radiating heat by liquefying the heating medium compressed by the compressor; a pressure reduction device for reducing the pressure of the heating medium liquefied by the condenser; and an evaporator for absorbing heat into and evaporating the heating medium, the pressure of which having been reduced by the pressure reduction device. The oil supply type compressor, the oil separator/collector, the condenser, the pressure reduction device, and the evaporator are connected in series on a heating-medium circulation path and the heating medium is circulated therethrough. A heating medium is used which can be compressed at a compression ratio such that the temperature of the heating medium discharged from the compressor ranges from 150°C to 200°C, and an intake temperature control means which is capable of controlling the temperature of the heating medium taken into the compressor is provided on the heating-medium circulation path at the inlet side of the compressor.
