Abstract:
A heat receiver (20) is provided for cooling a liquid crystal panel used in a liquid crystal projector that displays an image with light passing through a rectangular liquid crystal panel, the heat receiver comprising: a rectangular window (22) formed in contact with the outer peripheral edge of the liquid crystal panel; a flat annular flow path (24) formed at the outer periphery of the window (22) to surround the window (22) and having a narrow section (28) at a portion along one side of the window (22); and two supply and discharge flow paths (50a, 50b) for supplying and discharging a heat exchange medium near two corners sandwiching the narrow section (28) of the window (22). The heat receiver (20) absorbs the heat from the outer periphery of the liquid crystal panel with the heat exchange medium supplied from one of the two supply and discharge flow paths (50a, 50b) and discharged from the other to thusly cause the heat exchange medium to flow through the annular flow path (24). The heat receiver (20) can be made more compact and with a better cooling performance than a forced-air cooling heat receiver because a liquid such as water or oil may be used as the heat exchange medium.
