Abstract:
A map of distances between cylinder pressure sensors and combustion areas in which the distances between cylinder pressure sensors and combustion fields are acquired by determining the main injection timing, a map of burning velocities in which burning velocities are acquired according to engine speed and fuel injection pressure, and a map of minimum required filter frequencies in which minimum required filter frequencies are acquired according to the distances between cylinder pressure sensors and combustion areas and the burning velocities, are stored in ROM. Heat release waveforms are estimated by filtering cylinder pressure data from the cylinder pressure sensors that detect the pressure in the combustion chambers according to the abovementioned minimum required filter frequencies, and the combustion start timing for fuel injected by the main injection is identified.
