Provided are: a heat-resistant metal member which has excellent heat resistance and durability and is capable of greatly improving high-temperature corrosion resistance of a metal base that is formed of Nb, an Nb-Hf-based alloy or an Nb-Si-based alloy; and a rocket engine which uses this heat-resistant metal member. This heat-resistant metal member comprises a metal base (100) that is formed of Nb, an Nb-Hf-based alloy or an Nb-Si-based alloy and an alloy coating film (500) that is formed on the surface of the metal base. The alloy coating film (500) comprises, sequentially from the metal base (100) side, a transition region (110) that contains an Nb5Si3 phase as a crystal phase, an inner layer (200) that contains an NbSi2 phase as a crystal phase, an intermediate layer (300) that contains an MSi2 phase (wherein M represents at least two elements selected from the group consisting of Fe, Cr, Al, Mo, W, Re and Hf) as a crystal phase, and an outer layer (400) that contains an ReSi1.8 phase and/or Re(Al, Si)1.8 phase as a crystal phase.
