Abstract:
A heat treating method for steel wire capable of increasing production efficiency and reducing cost by selectively manufacturing, without stopping, ausform steel wire of multiple diameters from a hot-rolled wire material of a specified diameter in a single wire quenching and tempering line, wherein a dead supply and a coil-to-coil welding operation is facilitated by using hot-rolled wire material (2) which is softer than a drawn wire material for non-stop operation, the wire is sized by integrated die extractions (5, 6) and dieless extractions (6, 11), a secondary heating (8) for dieless extraction is added after a primary heating (7) for quenching to match the requirements for heat treatment to a reduction in diameter and the lowering of the ductility of the wire by overheating is eliminated by an ausform effect. A steel wire section reduction ratio is set in inversely proportional to a speed ratio on the upstream and downstream sides of a heating part, the speed ratio is fine-adjusted by the measurement (10) of the cross sectional shape of the wire after drawing to preferentially control the cross sectional area of the steel wire so as to reasonably expand the allowable range of cross sectional dimensions. The dimensionally defective part is excessively softened by high temperature tempering, and eliminated in a spring molding process.
