Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a heater which has high reliability and durability and that, when the temperature rapidly increases, suppresses generation of significant stress concentration on the end portion of a joint section between a resistor and a lead, even if a large current flows in the resistor, and to provide a glow plug provided with the heater. [Solution] A heater (1) is provided with the following: a resistor (3) having a heat-generation part (4); a lead (8) joined to the end portion of the resistor (3); and an insulating base body (9) that covers the resistor (3) and the lead (8). In the joint section between the resistor (3) and the lead (8), the lead (8) is thicker than the resistor (3), and the resistor (3) and the lead (8) are connected so that the end portion of the resistor (3) is inserted into the tip portion of the lead (8). A recess is provided in the end surface of the resistor (3), and a part of the lead (8) is inserted into the recess.
