Abstract:
Provided are a machining method and a machining device, whereby it is possible to machine a high-precision helical gear from a workpiece immediately after the control value is changed. The machining method comprises: a primary machining step (S3) of forming toothing on the outer periphery of a workpiece (W), which is fixed on a work table (7), at a shallower cutting position than the tooth depth that is to be formed in the end, while rotating the workpiece (W) about a Y-axis at a predetermined rotational speed and causing a cutter (11) to reciprocate along the Y-axis at a predetermined thrusting speed; a measurement step (S4) of measuring the shape of the toothing formed in the primary machining step while the workpiece (W) is still fixed on the work table (7); a correction step (S6) of calculating a cutting error of the toothing on the basis of the measurement result obtained in the measurement step and a setting value for the toothing that should be formed in the primary machining (S5), and correcting the setting value of the toothing on the basis of the calculated error; and a secondary machining step (S8) of performing secondary machining on the basis of the setting value corrected in the correction step for the toothing.
