Abstract:
A hemispherical self-focusing lens optical fibre array for VCSEL or PIN array coupling, and a manufacturing method therefor. By means of the steps of substrate processing, the welding of coreless optical fibres, optical fibre assembling, the polishing of coreless optical fibres, etc., a hemispherical self-focusing lens optical fibre array comprising a substrate (1), a cover plate (2) and multiple optical fibres (3) is manufactured, wherein the substrate (1) comprises a front substrate section (11) and a back substrate section (12); an upper surface of the front substrate section (11) is higher than an upper surface of the back substrate section (12); multiple V-shaped grooves corresponding to the multiple optical fibres (3) on a one-to-one basis are provided on the upper surface of the front substrate section (11); each of the optical fibres (3) is disposed in a V-shaped groove corresponding thereto; after each of the optical fibres (3) protrudes forward from the front substrate section (11), a coreless optical fibre (31) is welded on an end face thereof; the cover plate (2) is disposed on the front substrate section (11); the cover plate (2) and each of the V-shaped grooves define an accommodation space for fixing the optical fibres (3); and a coreless optical fibre (31) comprises an optical plane (311) at an included angle of 30 degrees to 60 degrees relative to a bottom face of the substrate (1), and an arc-shaped spherical face (312) for engaging with the optical plane (311) and a bottom face of the coreless optical fibre (31). Compared with the prior art, the present invention has the advantages of high optical coupling efficiency, low costs, etc.
