Abstract:
A hemispherical shoe and a method of manufacturing the hemispherical shoe. The hemispherical shoe formed of a projected hemispherical surface (2) and a flat-shaped end surface (3) in a roughly hemispherical shape and comprises, on the hemispherical surface, a slidable contact part (6) coming into slidable contact with a hemispherical recessed part and non-slidable contact surfaces (7) and (8) not coming into slidable contact with the recessed part. In the method of manufacturing the hemispherical shoe, after a hemispherical raw material having a hemispherical surface along the recessed part is molded, the surface of the hemispherical surface which forms a portion to be the slidable contact surface is hardened, the hardened portion is swelled more than the original surface of the hemispherical surface to form the slidable contact surface on the surface of the swelled part and to leave the other portions of the hemispherical surface in non-slidable contact surfaces. Since the width of the slidable contact surface can be easily set by controlling the width of the hardened portion, a bearing pressure is increased by reducing the width of the slidable contact surface, and the risk of seizure can be lowered.
