The hermetically sealed compressor of one embodiment is configured in such a manner that the front end surface of a vane in the sliding direction thereof is in contact with the outer peripheral surface of a roller. One pair of side surfaces of the vane is in sliding contact with a cylinder. The other pair of side surfaces of the vane is in sliding contact with closing members. As a result of this configuration, the inside of a cylinder chamber is divided into a suction chamber and a compression chamber. A first amorphous carbon layer having a thickness of Ta and Vickers hardness of HVa is formed on the front end surface of the vane. Second amorphous carbon layers having a thickness of Tb and Vickers hardness of HVb are formed on the one pair of side surfaces of the vane. Third amorphous carbon layers having a thickness of Tc and Vickers hardness of HVc are formed on the other pair of side surfaces of the vane. The thicknesses and Vickers hardness of the first to third amorphous carbon layers have the following relationships: Ta > Tc, Tb > Tc, HVa > HVc, and HVb > HVc.
